Biographical history
For the history of the proconsulate, see: Lisi, Rete consolare (2024), pp. 197-199.
The Proconsulate, which was dependent on the Consulate of Beirut for the entire period, was established in 1826. The position of proconsul remained vacant from 1849 onwards.
Since then, the protection of Sardinian subjects has been entrusted to French consuls.
The following proconsuls succeeded one another:
- Stefano Pulicani (1826)
- Giorgio Catzflis (June 1826 - October 1844)
- Francesco Atzeni Anastasi (1844-1849)

Scope and content
Two small registers, consisting of just a few pages, buried among the extensive documentation from Beirut. Almost unique. Proconsular documentation is rarely preserved. The register of ship arrivals and departures from the port fits perfectly with that of the Vice-Consulate, later the Sardinian Consulate, in Beirut.
