Il proconsolato, dipendente per l'intero periodo dal Consolato di Bayrouth, viene istituito nel 1826. La direzione del proconsolato resta vacante dal 1854 al 1857. La protezione dei sudditi sardi è affidata in quel periodo ai consoli francesi, quali reggenti provvisori (J. B. Geoffroy; Edouard Grasset; Stanislao Bentivoglio)
Alla direzione del proconsolato si susseguono:
- Luigi Molinari (1826 - + marzo 1854)
- Vincenzo Tommasini (1857 - 1864)
Alla partenza di congedo di Vincenzo Tommasini la provvisoria direzione del Consolato viene affidata a Paolo Zalum

The archive consists of

- a register of deeds from the period 1854-1867
- a register of arrivals and departures of ships from Alexandretta from the years 1827-1829.
The proconsulate of Alexandretta was under the direction of Aleppo from 1827 to 1829 and again from 1849 onwards.
